An experienced Datacenter Engineer is required in Barbados to take full responsibility for the design, implementation, and maintenance of on-premises data center infrastructure. Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement data center infrastructure strategies
  • Oversee daily operations, maintenance, and system performance
  • Implement and manage robust security protocols and conduct regular audits
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans
  • Monitor capacity and optimize resource utilization to support future growth
  • Maintain accurate documentation including configurations, policies, and diagrams
  • Manage vendor relationships and procurement processes
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and company policies

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in data center operations or infrastructure engineering
  • Proficiency in technologies such as VMware, Commvault, Windows/Linux, storage, networking, and virtualization
  • Strong understanding of security principles, disaster recovery, and risk mitigation
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Experience working collaboratively across cross-functional teams
  • Flexibility to support operations outside of normal business hours when necessary

Desirable Skills and Attributes:

  • Advanced certifications (e.g. in data center management, networking, security)
  • Knowledge of cloud computing, capacity planning, and infrastructure modernization
  • Strong project management capabilities and ability to handle multiple priorities
  • A customer-focused approach with the drive to deliver high-quality results
