Responsibilities:
- Overseeing daily accounting department operations, managing workflow and staffing, reviewing work for accuracy, maintaining appropriate staffing levels, counseling and developing employees, training team members, resolving personnel issues, and conducting performance evaluations.
- Directing accounting practices and affiliates by developing and implementing procedures and systems to maintain accurate records, controls, and services, ensuring timely and accurate processing of accounts payable, payroll, plant accounting, inventory, and related functions, and maintaining proper record retention and on-time regulatory reporting.
- Preparing and reviewing monthly and annual financial statements, analyzing significant variances, and ensuring all required reports are filed accurately and on schedule, serving as the primary contact for the annual external audit, and ensuring timely year-end close and completion of audit schedules.
- Supporting regulatory activities by preparing analyses, studies, long-term plans, cost separation data, revenue requirement filings, and related documentation, coordinating with regulatory consultants and commission staff, monitoring CABS data for irregularities, completing and verifying NECA and AECA data requests, and maintaining associated tariffs.
- Assisting with annual budget preparation, implementing and maintaining budget tracking mechanisms, and preparing supporting data for budget development, preparing financial analyses and reports on loan status, depreciation rates, and other financial transactions as requested.
- Serving as the primary contact for annual business insurance renewals, preparing updated schedules, calculating internal allocations, maintaining policies, assisting managers with certificates of liability and bonds, and recommending policy updates aligned with industry standards.
