Linux Systems Administrator - Consultancy

The team is hiring a Vulnerability Manager to join a mission-critical security team supporting a major defence-sector project.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot Unix/Linux systems (Solaris 10/11, Red Hat)
• Automate processes using scripting (Bash, Python)
• Respond to system alerts, perform updates, and manage user permissions
• Collaborate with end users to resolve hardware, software, and network issues
• Participate in an on-call rota and ensure timely incident resolution
• Document support processes and share knowledge across the team

Required Skills/Qualifications:

• Strong experience in Unix/Linux system administration and support
• Proficiency in scripting and automation
• Familiarity with VMware, Ansible, and monitoring tools (e.g. vROps)
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Experience with Docker/Mirantis/Podman is a plus

• Due to the nature of the work, applicants must be eligible to obtain Security Check (SC) clearance. 
• This includes continuous UK residency for the last 5 years and other standard vetting requirements.

Location:

• Barrow-in-Furness (On-Site, 5 Days/Week)

Salary: 

• Up to £51,000 Per Annum + Potential £3,000 Relocation Bonus
