Responsibilities:

  • Operates heavy machinery to install underground conduit systems for telecom infrastructure, including fiber optics
  • Prepares job sites for activities such as excavation, construction, or demolition
  • Carefully excavates while following site plans and avoiding interference with existing utility lines
  • Sets up and clears work areas, implementing measures to manage pedestrian and vehicle traffic
  • Conducts pre-operational inspections and refuels equipment before starting daily tasks
  • Interprets utility markings and oversees the safe exposure of buried services
  • Verifies that all necessary permits and utility locates are completed and available on-site
  • Monitors ongoing work to confirm compliance with technical specifications and standards
  • Uses construction machinery to position and align equipment according to grading requirements


Skills/Must have:

  • Experience using excavation equipment such as trenchers, mini excavators, and backhoes
  • Proficient in reading utility locates, site maps, and construction drawings
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safe digging practices
  • Physically fit and able to work in demanding outdoor environments
  • Strong communication skills for coordination with site teams and supervisors
  • Attention to detail when following permits, plans, and safety procedures
  • Effective time management to meet project deadlines safely and efficiently
  • Experience working as part of a crew in fast-paced construction environments
